I am trying to build a stronger End-user community withing CiviCRM to increase cooperation among non-profits using CiviCRM in similar ways. Going to CiviCRON and being a part of the community at the conference has made me want to make the End-user community more robust. I think the open-source and non-profit focused nature of CiviCRM lends itself to strong community building as is an aspect of CiviCRM that is exciting!

The CiviCRM community has been a tremendous resource for new ideas and helping us solve problems. We are excited to contribute customizations EFF makes back to core and support new features such as batch entry for offline donations or multiple payment processors on one donation form.

From fundraising websites which really connect you with your donors to essential tools for care organisations to manage their data, Civi has allowed us to do some amazing things for our clients. It's such a flexible platform and has such a great community which we're proud to be a part of.

Being part of the CiviCRM community is really something to shout about! Not only is CiviCRM an amazing software package, its designed for organisations that make a difference in the world. We help non-profits across the UK gain control of their data through the power of CiviCRM.

It is without a doubt the best piece of software I've ever worked with, and I'm constantly discovering cool new features. More recently I've been working on CiviMobile as part of a project for my course at University. I'm really looking forward to seeing this being used by organisations across the globe.

The CiviCRM community is a great place for support, to exchange ideas and to contribute back. Working with other developers or users has often allowed me to pool our resources together and lower our costs, while ensuring better quality since there were more people using it.

I chose to learn to use CiviCRM to learn how to help NPOs :) And because it seems to be a meeting point and a continuity of my values, my skills, and what I think we should develop for the next step of our humanity.

Its great to work on a project that has a profound impact on non profits. I am very excited about the work we do on CiviCRM which involves building on each other's ideas to create best of breed solutions for non profits. The fact that CiviCRM is an open source project with an amazing community and dedicated developers is an icing on the cake.

AFS - American Field Service - NZ

Growing the Alumni and cultivating the chapters
AFS - American Field Service - NZ
Wellington
New Zealand
See map: Google Maps
Features Deployed:

AFS NZ are part of the international body which provides intercultural learning and volunteer opportunities for students, young adults, teachers and families through international exchange. AFS is one of the world’s largest not-for-profit volunteer based organisations.

The initial request was to help them set up an Alumni system, but that then expanded to include a Pasifika site, and later on a Chapter based system.

The resulting project is therefore a multi-org deployment (ie one CiviCRM db) linked to several Drupal websites including one Domain Access website that provides a site for each Chapter.

Chapters needed controlled access to their contacts.

The Promise:

A membership and donation system

The Challenge:

The challenge was watching the scope grow and knowing that CiviCRM could handle everything they wanted us to throw at it.

The CiviCRM Solution:

The client had previously chosen CiviCRM and came to Fuzion to deploy it.

Project Team:

Peter Davis (Fuzion), Eileen McNaughton (Fuzion), Tony Calvert (AFS-NZ Communications Manager)

The Team:
fuzion.co.nz
Key Functionality:

Memberships and Donations initially. Then multi-org ability - ie having several websites linking to one CiviCRM with in-built access controls.

Modifications and Modules:

Most of the bleeding edge work on this project was with the multi-org requirements.

Server & Hosting Requirements:

Hosted on Fuzion's VPS in Auckland.

Benefits To The CiviCRM Community:

Further QA and patches for the multi-org configuration
