Avon Education Foundation (AEF) needed to consolidate and upgrade their data operations. The nine year-old volunteer-led organization had been very successful raising money to support local education efforts, but they had address and gift data stored in multiple Excel spreadsheets, outgoing grants stored in multiple Excel spreadsheets, they weren't doing bulk emails, and their gift acknowledgement process was extrememely manual and time-intensive. Additionally, the team that had overseen the majority of the foundation's growth was beginning to transition off the board. There was a fear that much of the data and history, as well as the operational procedures, would be lost without having a more formal and disciplined system in place before the transition.
