The Diverse City Fund works to nurture community leaders and grassroots projects which are acting to transform Washington, DC into a more just, vibrant place to live. Through our grantmaking, we identify, support, and connect people in communities of color who are engaged in change work.We support the development of community-level social change by funding projects that have less access to traditional funding sources.
Diverse City Fund is a nonprofit close to our hearts. Hyper-local and volunteer-run, they nurture the community with their grantmaking programs.
CiviCRM was a perfect fit for them with the CiviGrant component, giving them functionality otherwise only found in high-pricetag CRM's.
Functionality
The streamlining of operations provided by the ability to keep all their data in one repository was no small benefit to this volunteer organization, providing concurrency and data integrity, and keeping data structured.
The grant tracking functionality in CiviCRM is central to their operations and was a big step up from the spreadsheets they were using.
Ginkgo Street Labs donated the initial set-up time, importing their contacts, donation records, and grant history from Insightly, Vertical Response, and a collection of spreadsheets.
Subsequently, we configured their grant management backoffice operations and are currently scoping out moving the grant application process online. Event Management for their regular grant award ceremonies is also on the horizon.
