CiviCRM is good in very-structured contact data. This data is, however, very often complemented by documents and other files. Examples are:
- Photos and identity documents for contacts.
- Invoices for expenses.
- Reports, text documents, action plans, etc., for cases.
This extension offers the option to store these in Nextcloud, Open-Source File Storage (nextcloud.com) and it uses CiviCRM to find your Nextcloud files. Nextcloud can take care of file versions and sharing permissions. CiviCRM acts like an index so that the documents and files can be found in the correct context. Currently the extension offers the integration with contacts, expenses, or cases in such a way that folders are created per entity and adds a button on the interface so that you can access this folder.
The Nextcloud interface takes care of the uploading and downloading of the files. This means that the user is presented with a separate user interface. The price for this is that your users may have to learn something new, but the advantage is that it is maybe already known and that it includes features that you do not want to build yourself.
