Join us at CiviCamp Montreal and meet the North American CiviCRM community!
Whether you're new to CiviCRM or a seasoned expert,
there is something for you at CiviCamp Montreal
CiviCamp Montreal, organized by local volunteers from the CiviCRM community, is the opportunity to meet CiviCRM users, partners, Core Team members, share experiences and knowledge with your peers, as well as learning about recent developments.
CiviCamp Montreal is not just one conference but it also offers the opportunity to attend training sessions and a code Sprint. You are welcome to attend all the events or just one of your choice.
Presentations will be mainly in English but we plan on having some French content and there will be a strong French-speaking presence. We will do our best to accommodate anyone who needs help with translation. And if you are visiting Montreal and do not speak French, don't worry! Montreal is tourist-friendly and downtown is very bilingual.
The events are held in the heart of Downtown Montreal in an accessible venue and connected to the metro.
CiviCamp Conference
February 28 - 9am-5pm
A one-day conference that features workshops, case studies, how-to sessions and lightning talks about the latest developments.
The conference will be followed by a Happy Hour meetup in a local bar. That will be the opportunity to meet and connect with your peers and other members of the community.
Who should attend: anyone using CiviCRM or considering using CiviCRM for their organization.
Cost: 65 CAD, includes coffee and lunch (75 CAD after February 10)
Location: UQAM - Salle polyvalente (SH-4800) 200 rue Sherbrooke Ouest - Montreal. Metro Place des arts.
CiviCRM Administrator Training
February 26-27 - 9am-5pm
A comprehensive two day hands on training course covering the configuration, administration, and every-day use of CiviCRM. This event is aimed at administrators and technical users at organisations that are either using CiviCRM, or interested in evaluating it. It is also useful for staff at organisations that develop or implement CiviCRM who need a complete understanding of "out of the box" features and configuration options.
Agenda
We try to be flexible with the agenda to meet participant requirements and expectations, and the final agenda may change. Topics will include:
- Introduction to CiviCRM - what does it do and how can it help your organisation
- Installation and configuration - making CiviCRM work for you
- Custom data and profiles - extending CiviCRM to meet your data requirements
- CiviCRM components - including event, mail, member, contribute, case, report, grant and pledge
- Custom searches and forms - using SearchKit and FormBuilder
- Website integration - the whys and hows of making CiviCRM work with WordPress, Drupal or Joomla
- Support and the CiviCRM community - what happens after this training.

Prerequisites
The session will include a series of hands-on exercises using specially configured training installations of CiviCRM. Participants should bring a laptop with wifi capabilities to this training to they can take part in these exercises. If you are new to CiviCRM, we strongly recommend you skim through the CiviCRM User Guide in preparation for the training.

CiviCRM Developer Training
February 26-27 - 9am-5pm
During this 2-day class, you will learn the basics of CiviCRM extension development, how to package SearchKit and FormBuilder in an extension, how to generate new entities, how to use Symfony listeners and how to improve CiviCRM core software.
A test CiviCRM environment will be provided, but you should bring a laptop.
Who should attend: developers with a basic understanding of PHP and MySQL.
Cost: 475 CAD

Code and Documentation Sprint
February 29- March 3
This is an opportunity to get involved in the CiviCRM project and gather with other CiviCRM contributors. Learn how to test proposed changes to CiviCRM core, or how to propose your own change. Learn how to improve the CiviCRM documentation, CiviCRM translations, and many more.
The Sprint is fairly informal, but usually includes presentations on ongoing developments.
Who should attend: anyone that wants to contribute to the CiviCRM community
Cost: 100 CAD
Location: UQAM - Salle La Chaufferie - Pavillon Cœur des sciences - 175, avenue du Président-Kennedy - Montréal. Metro Place des arts.
Visa information
If you are travelling from outside of Canada, please check online for the entry requirements to Canada.
- United-States citizens: no visa required. You must have a valid passport. Do not travel with a firearm (we're not judging, but this has happened before by mistake). If you have a criminal record, you may need a special permit, please see this page.
- EU citizens: will need an electronic travel authorization (eTA), which is easy to apply for online and costs 7 $CAD. Be careful for scam sites. Official services are all under the canada.ca domain.
- Other countries: We are sorry, but we cannot provide invitations for visitors from other countries. Please do not register, it is extremely unlikely that you will be able to get a visa. We are obligated to report suspicious registrations.

About Montreal
Montreal is a wonderful city at this time of year. There is a skating ring nearby (picture below) and many good restaurants and pubs.
If you are looking for a hotel, pretty much anything central or close to the green/orange metro lines should be fine, but we recommend avoiding staying directly next to Berri-UQAM station, it's a busy area. Feel free to post on the community channel of the CiviCRM chat for ideas or suggestions.
From the airport, there is a "747" STM bus line that goes downtown and is somewhat efficient, for $11. Tickets must be purchased from a machine inside the terminal (near the main exits, after luggage). The ticket is an unlimited 24 hours pass for all bus and metro lines of the "A" zone (the island of Montreal). The 747 "short line" bus goes directly to Lionel-Groulx station, and the "long line" also stop at Berri-UQAM station. Taxis cost around $50 to downtown. It's a flat fee for the airport-downtown area, plus tip. All taxis accept credit and debit cards. Uber works too, similar pricing. Surge pricing is not legal in Quebec, but that also means it can be difficult to call an Uber at certain times. Eva.coop is a local alternative.
