The next meet up for the UK usergroup will be at Drupal for NGOs, an event organised by Rob Purdie of Important Projects on Tuesday 10 June from 6pm-8pm. It's a Drupal as opposed to CiviCRM focused event, but there should be lots of overlap. It's hosted by Amnesty International, and there will be presentations from Greenpeace UK and Oxfam International. There should be a good mix of large and small organisations, end users, and developers and a chance to talk informally about how we use CiviCRM.
A quick report back from our inaugral meeting: Despite the interest in the forums, no one turned up on the day (though one person did call me the day after). So rather than twiddle my thumbs, I spent the time researching other goings on and got in contact with Rob Purdie to see if we could join up with this event. Thanks to jystewart for the tip off!
Before we consign the first event to history, a brief pause for learning: why didn't anyone show up? I can think of three reasons: I didn't publicise it widely enough or far enough in advance; in one forum post, I mistakenly said it was on Thursday not Wednesday; and finally, it co-incided with the the UEFA Cup Final. The perfect storm?
Hope to see you on the 10th. After this we are still planning on going on the road, hopefully down to Bristol first.
