This camp is now confirmed. The dates are Oct 13th / 14th. Follow up blog post here
Following the lead from our friends at
Ubercart with
Ubercamp, we figured having CiviCamp might not be a bad idea. We suspect that doing it around
BADCamp will give folks the opportunity who are traveling to combine two unconferences in one visit.
Proposed Dates
BADCamp is schedule for Oct 11/12, CiviCamp will be held on Oct 13/14.
Location
Depending on folks interest, we could hold CiviCamp either in San Francisco or Tahoe-Donner. We have a couple of places that the group can stay overnite at Tahoe Donner. Tahoe is also a great place in late summer / early fall
Agenda and Goals
I suspect this will be determined by who's coming, the relevant skill sets and interests. High on our lists is better integration with the big three drupal modules (Views, OG and CCK). We'll also be in the middle of our 2.2 development cycle, we would like to do a few code sprints and flush out new functionality for that release
This is not a training event. We expect participants to have some combination of php5 / mysql5 / javascript / CiviCRM / Drupal / Joomla skills.
Fees
We will split up total costs incurred with the group participants. The costs are primarily to cover food and location rental (if any).
Please post a comment to this post if you are interested and your availability on those dates. Also thoughts on what you'd like to get done in this camp would be appreciated :)
Comments
Are you thinking of this primarily for CiviCRM implementors, or is this for the dev community?
Implementors are welcome also. One of the goals of the camp is better integration with other systems, and implementors play a key role in defining the integration needed and needs of their clients etc
We'd like to avoid this becoming a bootcamp or training session, so the focus would be primarily the group improving CiviCRM across multiple facets
The US is a very long way from home for me, but I'm definitely interested and will keep an eye on this one :)
I'm late to comment here--just saw the mention of CiviCamp in the News Flash email. Since more than a month has gone by, I'd be curious to hear what the current thinking is. I'm up in Seattle and was not planning to go to BADcamp this year but would think about it again if there were a CiviCamp attached.
The Tahoe area is indeed beautiful, but having the CiviCamp in SFO itself would make it easier to attend both DrupalCamp and CiviCamp, and for me would give me a better shot at a free place to crash.
Subject to availability of reasonably priced flights to SF, etc...

FYI, BADCamp official site is http://badcamp.net
Is CiviCamp still on? I'm interested. I could make it to either SF or Tahoe..
we need a few more developers to make it happen. We currently have 3 responses. If we get to 5, we'll definitely have it. Anyone else from techsoup interested?
The engineering team will be having a hack-a-thon for 2.2 during that time. so if we dont have anything formal setup, we can do something informal. Ideally we'd like to work on "different" stuff during civicamp (integration stuff?), so hence the push to get more developers. I'll also send an email to other folks and try nudging them along
lobo
I'm interested. I live in SF, so that would be convenient, but Tahoe would be a nice change of pace, so I'm fine with either one. I'll post back here if my "interested" solidifies into a "yes".

Donald, looks like Jason and Tony can go. Will check in with Walt this afternoon and look at my own schedule to see if we can get away. Thanks for organizing this.
Sarmeesha
Donald, Walt is coming. I, unfortunately, can't make it because our board meeting is on the 13th.
