We have slipped the code freeze release date by a week for CiviCRM 2.0 to Dec 10, 2007. At this point, we have not changed the other dates on the schedule. We are hoping to meet those dates, but this being the holidays and given our travel / consulting / camp schedule, we might slip the other dates by a week or two.

By lobo Filed under CiviCRMWe (dave greenberg and lobo) will be running a two day Developer's Bootcamp in San Francisco on December 10-11. This will be a working session, during which we will work through one or more actual client projects with defined requirements and workflow - and design (and implement - if time) a solution. We will also be reviewing CiviCRM architecture from the point of view of component developers - using specifications for a potential new component as a springboard.

By lobo Filed under CiviCRMWe just updated the CiviCRM 2.0 wiki page with the release schedule. The wiki page has details on the features and changes coming in v2.0. v2.0 will ONLY support PHP5.2+, MySQL 5.0.x+ (later releases only), Drupal 6+ and Joomla 1.5+.

We have had a few requests from folks to extend the search code with their own SQL queries while taking advantage of the tasks available with search (print, mailing labels, export, smart groups, adding to group etc). This has been on our list of things to do, but we had not made any progress. Some example where this would be useful are:
Give me the set of all household's who have a household member residing in district X. More details here. The search form can be set to just include a text box for the household name and a multi-select element for the district to restrict the search criteria
Give me the set of contact(s) who have donated more than an input amount in this date range.
Various combinations of AND/OR/NOT which civicrm search does not handle.

We are excited to announce that our 1.9 release is now available for download, AND to try out on our demo site.
This release is focused on CiviMail - and unlike previous public demos, you can use the CiviMail menus and features. However, no actual mail will be sent from the site. You can view Release Highlights here. The resolved issues list sports the implementation details and lists fixed bugs.

Create and Send Mailings - Check out the changes in the CiviMail "Send Mailing" wizard, including an integrated WYSIWYG rich-text editor. You can also try out the new Mailing search feature.
Easy-to-use Mailing List Subscription Form - You can now direct constituents to a built-in "sign-up" form for ALL public mailing lists, OR for a specific list.
Groups - You can now search for Groups from Manage Groups. Also, click Settings for a group to see the new Group Type feature, and assign your group to be used as a Mailing List and/or and Access Control group.
