CiviCRM Developer Training - Boston Area

This hands-on 1-day training session is targeted at experienced developers who want to learn how to develop, extend and debug CiviCRM.

Prerequisites

This session is intended for experienced PHP developers. You do NOT need to have prior CiviCRM development experience, but you must be comfortable reading and writing PHP and SQL code. Each participant is expected to bring a laptop with the current version of CiviCRM installed and running locally.

If you are new to CiviCRM, we recommend that you ALSO attend Configuring and Customizing CiviCRM on January 21st (the day before this session).

Agenda

The agenda will be finalized based on your interests. Topics include:

  • How CiviCRM works - code layout and architecture
  • Customizing CiviCRM - custom data and custom templates
  • Extending CiviCRM - hooks and api's
  • Debugging - tips and tricks
  • Becoming a more effective CiviCRM developer - co-ordinating development with the core team, working with the SVN repository, building unit tests, maintaining customizations ...
  • State of the project and input into upcoming releases

Participants should be prepared to bring their own wifi capable laptop.

There will be a $300 charge for this event. If your organization can't cover this cost - send email to lobo @ civicrm dot org to discuss options for bartering services. Limited discounts of up to 50% are available in exchange for services. You must submit your request prior to January 15th to be considered.
