Wednesday, day 3 of Toronto's CiviCamp, is the full-day event in the style of a BarCamp or "Unconference". It's a chance for everyone involved or interested in CiviCRM to spend the day together, sharing experiences, ideas and contact information, and generally getting inspired.

For this camp, we'll have 4 x 45 minute slots for community-led sessions, with some of those split into 2 or 3 "tracks" (e.g. like Admin, Developer, etc.).

If you're at all interested in participating as a speaker in one of those sessions, please email me. You don't have to have a 45 minute prepared speech, and I'll discourage you if you do. A popular format these days is the "lightning talk" of maybe 5 or 10 minutes, and the most important part of it all is audience engagement.

What kind of content do we usually see in these sessions? Here's a short list:

  1. Case study - a short story about a specific challenge and solution using CiviCRM.
  2. Project - something you're working on that you think others might be interested in and want to share.
  3. Ideas - patterns you see in the CiviCRM project, or in other projects.

CiviCamp Birmingham's recent post also has some good words on what a civicamp looks like.

You don’t need to be an advanced user or a seasoned conference speaker to have something worth sharing. Some of the most valuable sessions come from:

  1. Lessons learned the hard way
  2. Small improvements that made a big difference
  3. Honest reflections on what worked (and what didn’t).

If it would help someone else, it’s worth sharing.
