Semper IT and Blackfly Solutions are scaling back involvement in the CiviCRM iATS Payments Extension

Semper IT and Blackfly Solutions developed and have maintained the CiviCRM iATS Payments Extension since 2013. Semper IT and Blackfly Solutions primarily serve clients in Canada and having our clients work with a payment processor based in Canada, exclusively dedicated to non-profits, often in combination with a UK acquirer were some of the primary reasons for us to partner with iATS Payments.

For over a decade, iATS Payments provided funding for us to not only create the CiviCRM iATS Payments Extension but to also implement advanced features like the ability for staff to fully manage recurring contributions from within their CiviCRM. While funding the development and maintenance of the payment processor extension year over year iATS Payments continued to provide our clients with guaranteed low payment processing rates.

In 2021 iATS Payments was acquired by Deluxe Corporation, based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Over the past 5 years, Deluxe Corporation has gradually transformed iATS Payments into Deluxe Merchant Services. While we are grateful for Deluxe Corporation renewing their maintenance IT bundle for our work on the legacy CiviCRM iATS Payments Extension as recently as for 2025, Semper IT and Blackfly Solutions have decided to scale back our involvement in the legacy CiviCRM iATS Payments Extension and will no longer pursue additional funding to maintain it.

While we are excited about Deluxe Corporation’s new APIs and additional services that Deluxe Corporation can bring to the table for non-profit organizations, Semper IT and Blackfly Solutions feel this is a good time for others to partner with and build new connections with Deluxe Corporation.
