If you've been keeping up with blog posts on sustainability that I've been writing recently, you'll know that one of our main focuses at the moment is on ensuring the long term sustainability of CiviCRM.  A key part of these efforts is our new partner program, which we've been busy developing over the past few weeks.

We're now at a point where we would like to invite 'early adopters' to become founding partners of this programme.

A quick recap on our Make it Happen 4.4. fundraising campaigns.  We've split them into successful, partially successful and unsuccessful.

These MIH were fully funded - you can expect to see the functionality released as extensions of core functionality in CiviCRM 4.4.

Time for an update on the what we are now calling the 'supporting partners program'.  We've been busy building out the infrastructure and have some alpha pages and workflows set up on our test site. Now is a great time for some early feedback on the direction we are taking, how things are looking and functioning, and suggestions for making things better.

At CiviCon San Francisco, and at the sprints that followed, we spent a fair amount of time on the subject of ‘CiviCRM as a self-sufficient and financially sustainable ecosystem’. These discussions were wide ranging and super interesting (thanks to Peter Petrik from Skvare for his input and help facilitating). Following from these discussions, we have set ourselves two high level goals for the next 3 years:

Check out our line up of new features looking for funding as part of Make it Happen CiviCRM 4.4 and spread the word to organisations that you think would would be interested in funding these features.

Make it Happen is our way to crowd fund development of the functionality most requested by CiviCRM users and we have a range of projects looking for funding for the 4.4 release (due out this September).

We are currently shortlisting Make it Happen campaigns for the 4.4 release.  For those not familiar with Make it Happen (MIH), it is a way to crowd source the functionality you'd like to see in CiviCRM. We want to have a finalised list of MIH ready for people to contribute to online by April 14th. If you have been thinking about an MIH for a while, now is the time to submit it for the 4.4 release.

'Is it that time of the release cycle already?', I hear ye sayeth! Well yes my medieval friends, it is! Version 4.3 has some lovely new features and I'm sure you will want to be upgrading soon.

It was amazing to see and hear so many reports from CiviDay meet ups happening all over the world this Wednesday. It's an awesome example of the power of the CiviCRM community - and open source networks in general - to make things happen. It was only last month that we decided to create a CiviDay and put up a blog post inviting people to participate.
