A quick recap on our Make it Happen 4.4. fundraising campaigns.  We've split them into successful, partially successful and unsuccessful.

Successful

These MIH were fully funded - you can expect to see the functionality released as extensions of core functionality in CiviCRM 4.4.

  • CiviBooking - this will be released as an extension for 4.4
  • Faster and more user friendly searches *** need to explain the relationship between this and the 'Ongoing Performance improvements and code maintenance' MIH - we moved money from that MIH and are considering this one successful - Coleman can give / add more details
  • Drupal webform payment integration - you'd be forgiven for not seeing this late addition which got fully funded - get ready for payment integration with your webforms!
  • Better event badges - we secured funding for the event badge functionality - this will be in 4.4 (the self-service piece had 2 contributors for total of $550 so we're pushing that to 4.5 as a new MIH).

Partially successful

The following MIH were partially successful - some of the functionality will be built

  • Soft credit improvements - we received 58% of the funding that we needed for this MIH.  The pieces that will be included in 4.4 are:
    • Allow a contribution to be soft credited to more than one contact
    • Assign a soft credit amount different from the contribution amount (such as when soft crediting two people, give each contact a soft credit amount for half the total contribution amount
    • Ability to include soft credit information in the two primary contribution reports: Contribution Summary, Contribution Details.
    • NOT included in 4.4 (though a candidate for 4.5 if there is interest and funding): Ability to search soft credits from Find Contributions and from the Advanced Search "Contributions" pane. Results can return only soft credits; include soft credits with regular contributions; or exclude soft credits.
  • Semi automatic processing of bank transactions and SEPA direct debit - for both of these MIH, enough funds were raised to fulfil the requirements of those that contributed.  If your organisation is interested in either of these areas of functionality, contact Xavier Dutoit (tttp.eu) or Paul Delbar (www.delius.be) for more information.
  • CiviVolunteer - The Phase 1 feature set defined here will be implemented for the 4.4 extension release. This includes Self-service Volunteer Signup, Defining Volunteer Needs, Assigning Volunteers to Shifts, Logging Volunteer Hours, and a Volunteer Activity Report. Some of this work was unfunded, and funding is needed for implementation of unit tests - so additional contributions to the MIH campaign are encouraged if your organization is interested in using CiviVolunteer. Going forward, funding is also needed to build out support for recurring needs, role qualifications, and additional reporting for a Phase 2 release.
  • Faster searching - This MIH was partially funded and work was completed on a number of 'behind the scenes' scalability improvements including search result caching, query optimizations, and  pseudoconstant refactoring.

Unsuccessful

The following MIH campaigns were not succesful. If we can get 'seed' funding for these for 4.5, we'll run them again, otherwise, it is probably time for them to gracefully retire.

  • Self service view, update and cancel for CiviEvent - we had a couple of donations for this MIH, and we'll run again for 4.5.
  • Other option for custom fields - there wasn't a lot of interest in this so we'll likely not run again unless we have significant seed funding.
  • CiviCase configuration user interface - sadly no one bit on this.  Let us know if you are able to seed fund and we can get it back on the list for 4.5.
  • Recurring events and recording attendence - we've run this for a couple of releases now and have not had much success, so it seems like

Make it Happen 4.5

Now is the time for you to start thinking about MIH that would be suitable for CiviCRM 4.5.  See this wiki page for more information: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRM/Make+it+Happen.
