The fourth (and probably final) 2.1 Beta distribution is now available for download on SourceForge. If you are planning on using new 2.1 features AND / OR upgrading an existing site to 2.1 - NOW is the time to test the upgrade with YOUR DATA and identify any remaining issues with new or existing features. The development team will actively work with you resolve any upgrade issues during this phase of the release cycle. If you are unable to test the release by downloading it - then the next best thing is to try out the new features, bug fixes, as well as the workflows you use most often by logging in to the public demo.

By Dave Greenberg Filed under CiviCRMGenerally I think that the CiviCRM community works together in a very positive way. Whether on the forums, IRC or during the precious (but a bit too rare) occasions that we gather in the flesh - folks seem to treat each other with respect and patience.
However, as the community grows - it seems like it would be useful to follow the lead of several other successful open source communities and adopt a "Code of Conduct" which we can refer to and use to help maintain a supportive and collaborative atmosphere.

By Dave GreenbergFiled under The team has rolled a second 2.1 Alpha distribution with lots of fixes and improvements based on feedback from our heroic alpha testers out there, and our ongoing internal QA blast. We've gone through verification of almost 800 issue-tracker items - with each team member verifying a set of issues in an area where they did NOT do the coding. This process has turned up quite a few edge case issues - and the release is definitely getting more solid every day! Alpha 2 is available for download, AND to try out on our sandbox site. We want to make sure that the upgrade to 2.1 is as painless and error-free as possible. This can only happen if YOU test the upgrade process against a copy of your 2.0 data.

By Dave GreenbergFiled under I'm excited to report that a pretty full-featured 'phase 1' set of Pledge functionality is well on it's way to being completed and will be a part of the 2.1 release. This will fill in a significant hole in the overall CiviCRM feature-set.
Phase 1 will include the following functionality:
Record pledges received from contributors. This includes pledges for a one-time gift and pledges with regular payments spread out over a period of time.
Send pledge acknowledgments with payment schedules.
Generate payment schedules for multi-payment pledges.

Unfortunately we didn't get a sufficient number of signups to justify the expense of running the session (given that we'd be covering airfare, housing expenses etc.) - so we are forced to cancel the session.
