We've been tracking various metrics each month for over a year now in lieu of producing a big annual report. The latest, for October, is now live at https://civicrm.com/about
At this point, we have a number of trends that we can confidently point to (because the methodology of collecting them has been consistent), even if the numbers behind them are debatable (speaking of the stats, for example).
For those that don't want to read the entire report, here are the highlights.
Key takeaways
- As an ecosystem, CiviCRM is growing. Installation growth, based on anonymous pingbacks, is up 104% YoY, Spark growth is up 30% YoY, and partner, contributor and member growth is slowly inching up.
- Combined website traffic across civicrm.com, civicrm.org and docs.civicrm.org are is down almost 7% after having been rising consistently through the first half of 2026. This is likely due to the impacts of AI-based search. In fact, CiviCRM's own AI assistant "Doc Bot" is seeing increased usage.
- Financially, we're at breakeven for the past rolling 12 months due to 1) strong earned and subscription income (accounts for over 43% of budget) and 2) stronger than expected event income (accounts for 13.5% of budget). Community funding remains consistent but flat. We expect to close out the year at a loss.
- The largest expenses for CiviCRM at present are labor and events, coming in at 76% and 14% of budget, respectively. We expect labor to increase in the coming months and into next year as we press forward with various intiatitives.
- We're coming up on 4 years of climate action with Ecologi: https://ecologi.com/civicrm It's a small amount each month that reflects a large impact over time.
