Join the Leonardo team and work in a collaborative environment at the epicenter of the most current explorations in art/science! Leonardo/ISAST has an immediate opening for an editorial office assistant to perform a range of administrative and editorial tasks necessary to publish the journals and support community building, often liaising with authors, editors, other publishers and affiliates. This is a part-time position that is remote during shelter-in-place and will resume after in our downtown Oakland office.

SUMMARY
Leonardo/ISAST has an immediate opening for an editorial office assistant. The editorial office assistant performs a range of administrative and editorial tasks necessary to publish the journals and support community building at Leonardo/ISAST, often liaising with authors, editors, other publishers and affiliates. This part-time, entry-level position reports directly to the managing editor and managing director.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide general support to Managing Director, Managing Editor, and staff editors
Maintain CRM and Data management systems
Receive and direct correspondences
Copy edit and proofread journal and related materials
Create and curate social media content, including monthly newsletters
Manage calendars, blogs, website, and other shared platforms
Assist with fundraising, promotional mailings, campaigns and reports
Provide logistical support for meetings, programs, and events
Light content creation/graphics for social media/presentations/mail campaigns

File, photocopy and mail

REQUIREMENTS
Enthusiasm, self-motivation, creativity, independence, curiosity and flexibility
Administrative skills, including word processing, spreadsheet maintenance, database management, Internet research and email, Microsoft Office
A high standard of written and spoken English
Technical ability to update website content, minor graphic design
Attention to detail, together with strong and consistent proofreading skills
Ability to stay calm under pressure, work well with others and learn quickly
Time-management skills, including the ability to keep to tight and often-conflicting deadlines
Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Art History, or related field preferred

PREFERRED SKILLS

Copy editing and/or writing experience
Web design and html experience
Digital editing skills as related to websites and social media
