The PROGRESSIVE TECHNOLOGY PROJECT (PTP) is seeking a Data Specialist to join our PowerBase team. PowerBase is a customized, hosted version of the open source platform, CiviCRM, developed by PTP specifically for groups doing community organizing.

The Progressive Technology Project focuses primarily on building the capacity of groups organizing in low-income, immigrant, and/or communities of color across the United States. We work specifically with organizations striving to achieve social, economic, and environmental justice. PTP’s mission is to help these organizations achieve their goals more effectively and efficiently. We do that by helping groups strengthen their capacity — infrastructure, skills, understanding, and practice — to integrate proven technologies into the daily life of their organizations.

 

Job Title:   Data Specialist

Reports To:   PowerBase Program Director

Status:   Full-time, Regular

Schedule:   40 hours weekly; some work travel necessary for staff meetings, trainings, and conferences

Salary:   Competitive and commensurate with experience

Job Purpose:   The Data Specialist is a critical part of the team helping groups transition to and use PowerBase, PTP’s community-organizing database solution

Job Location:   Austin, TX or the New York City area

 

Primary Responsibility Highlights

  • Provide data services for the PowerBase community. Data services include:
    • Cleaning data from a variety of sources
    • Work with groups to develop understanding of their data in order to migrate to PowerBase
    • Setup and configuration of PowerBase and Drupal
    • Importing data into PowerBase
  • Work with the PTP team to provide high-quality technical support  to the PowerBase community
  • Assist with documentation of PowerBase
  • Assist with and conduct PowerBase trainings
