Making it Happen

I'm pleased to announce that the target for the first of the Civi-Make-it-Happen initiatives has been reached. We have raised $750 to fund enhancing the dedupe functionality to merge CMS user accounts when de-duping. Those of us who are familiar with the experience of clicking on each contact to see which one has a userID before clicking merge will be pleased to see this enhancement and grateful to those who donated.

Since we have hit this target I have replaced it with the next of the dedupe stream of initiatives - the ability to mark two contacts as not being duplicates - so CiviCRM will be able to learn that John Smith of Taupo is not the same person as John Smith of Tauranga and not present him for de-duping next time around. The target for this initiative is $1500.

So far the response to Civi-Make-it-Happen has been positive and reaching one of our objectives is encouraging. Some good ideas have been posted - both in terms of what other initiatives people are interesting in and models & issues around supporting open source software.
