CiviCRM 3.4 and 4.0 go into feature freeze in about two-three weeks with the expected final stable version around the end of March. 4.0 will support Drupal 7 and Joomla! 1.6

Lots of people and organisations have stepped up and contributed to 3.4 and we current have 4 new features sponsored through Make-it-Happen that will be included:

  1. CiviMail enhancements for multi-site Users
  2. Joomla! ACLs
  3. De-dupe Usability Improvemens
  4. Credit offline contributions to Personal Campaign Pages

Thanks to the sponsors you can expect to see:

  • A fix for the problem where CiviMail doesn't send to members of sub-groups within the group being mailed
  • A fix for multisite problems around which domain originated the mail
  • The ability to set fine-grained access in Joomla! to pages and features (how will we convince people to switch to drupal now?)
  • The ability to Navigate between de-dupe matches without having to open every dedupe action in a separate window to avoid losing your list
  • The ability to assign payments receipted in manually to personal contribution pages.

A big thank you to all those who contributed!

There are 4 projects currently at 60% or more of target and might still make it in (fully or partially).

  1. Rules integration
  2. Campaign integration
  3. Membership type change on renewal /upsell (only $800 needed)
  4. Multiple contact subtypes

If any of the following sound like you there is still time ...

  • You want a manager to approve a CiviMail before it goes out. You will be able to do this thanks to the partially funded Rules Integration project. But there's a lot more workflow functionality that could be added with a bit more funding:
    •  You want someone to be notified as soon as en Event is full
    •  You want to be notified once a Make-it-Happen has reached it's target :-)
    •  You don't want a membership to become active until someone has approved it
    •  You want someone to be notified once a membership has been approved
  • You want to be able to set up an appeal ("campaign") and link all contributions received as part of it and all e-mails sent and activities to it. ( Right now I can see how useful it would be to have the Make-it-Happen 3.4 contribution pages linked to a 3.4 appeal). With funding already in place, you'll be able to make those linkages. But more funding is needed to add the detailed "Campaign Reports" needed to analyze and compare outcomes.
  • You want members to be able to select a different membership type when they renew without creating a whole new membership
  • Your contacts refuse to stay put in the contact subtypes you put them in. Your teachers become parents, your donors become workers and your staff decide to become students as well.
