The CiviDay for the Benelux in Apeldoorn was visited by about 25 people. Quite a few were new.
The day started with an explanation about CiviCooP bij Erik Hommel. CiviCooP will be a formal organisation where smaller CiviCRM organsations are able to do the work they like most, and cooperating with others for everything else.
Each organisation would then be able to offer the full CiviCRM service (hosting, building, maintenance, custom code, design).
We learned that especially government organisations are reluctant to contract small parties and they where very interested in this concept. It would help them to get CiviCRM introduced in their organisation.
There are still questions to be answered: is a formal coöperation the right form? A coöperation in the Netherlands means that all "members" share responsibility of one of the projects fails.
After that the group split in a tech session and a demo session.
In the tech session we spoke about how...Read more
It was amazing to see and hear so many reports from CiviDay meet ups happening all over the world this Wednesday. It's an awesome example of the power of the CiviCRM community - and open source networks in general - to make things happen. It was only last month that we decided to create a CiviDay and put up a blog post inviting people to participate. In that time we managed to organise 24 meet ups in 5 continents with an estimated 250-300 people attending - and it was not hard to do.
Here are just a few highlights so far (feel free to add your highlights as comments below)
- DC folks decided it is time for a CiviCamp on the East Coast of the US this Autumn - watch this space for details
- France rocked! and amongst other things, found out how Wikimedia France raised 1....
It's with great regret that the Australia/New Zealand CiviCRM community announce the postponement of our first CiviCon. Whilst we had received some fantastic offers of sponsorship and session proposals, we just weren't getting the public registrations required to run such an event.
With hindsight it could be that coinciding the event with fundamentally a developer conference (DrupalCon) wasn't the best idea so we are currently investigating options for running at a time more convenient to our intended audience of implementors, systems administrators, CTOs and technical wizards at non profits and community groups.
We would like to again thank all of those who got involved with organising, volunteering and supporting and encourage any of you in our region to remain as involved with your...Read more
Next Thursday december 13th. CiviCRM will be present in Buenos Aires and Madrid simultaneously!
Luciano Spiegel (iXiam's CTO) will be presenting CiviCRM in next OpenExpo CRM Event.
Alejandro Salgado will be hosting the first CiviCRM meetup in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The concept behind CiviDay is pretty simple: all the local CiviCRM meet ups organise a meet up on the same day: January 23rd 2013. And we use this as an opportunity to grow and strengthen local CiviCRM communities and create new ones.
Meet ups are a great way to meet other CiviCRM users, implementors and developers: to find people that can help, get your questions answered, find out about the latest developments in CiviLand, and build your local CiviCRM community. They are also a good opportunity to show off any cool work that you have been doing recently. And since its CiviDay, we'll also add a couple of extra suprises into the mix.
So what do you need to do to be part of CiviDay 2013? Simple - just head along to your local CiviCRM meet up and be part of a global network of CiviCRM gatherings happening that day. At the time of writing we have meet ups (some of them happening for the first time!) in:
- Apeldoorn (Netherlands)
- Austin, TX...
