If you are currently using 4.6.7 and your site uses ACLs to segment access to contacts you are strongly encouraged to upgrade. The 4.6.7 release included a regression in the ACL system which caused certain contact access permissions to behave improperly. The 4.4 LTS branch was unaffected.

The latest version is now available for downloading AND you can try it out on the demo site.

IATS has been a payment processor extension with CiviCRM for quite a while and has been actively developed & supported. If you are using the IATS extension you can say a quiet thank you to Alan, Karin & Stephen & stop reading.

If, however, you have been using IATS since the dark days before it was an extension and never switched over then it's time to make that change to ensure your site stays secure. Use IATS & need to check? Go to administer -> customise data & screens -> manage extensions and look for IATS. If it says installed - refer to the quiet thank you above (or better yet make a quiet donation to CiviCRM :-).

If not it's time to install the IATS extension https://civicrm.org/extensions/iats-payments - Alan has generously offered to provide support anyone making the transition. You can log an issue on the github repo if you need help -...

tldr

  • July: Open development. Major initiatives may still be accepted for 4.7 if significant implementation work has been done.
  • August: Feature freeze.  Existing 4.7 initiatives should be mostly done, but there may still be some work on development/maturation/gaps/loose-ends. Bug fixes encouraged. New (minor) enhancements may be accepted, but this will grow stricter as the month progresses.
  • September: Stabilization. 2 or 3 alphas. Mostly bug fixes. Split off 4.7 from master.

Discussion

CiviCRM is community open-source, heavily influenced by the participation of partners and users. Twice each year, we gather for week long sprints to plan and develop. The April sprint in Colorado produced a number of great initiatives, and a major factor was the alignment with the release: 4.6.0 was out; the roadmap for 4.7 was as clear as...

With 4.6 stable out the door, work began in earnest on the next release at last month’s Colorado sprint. Both the core team and key community contributors arrived at the sprint with specific projects they wanted to work on for 4.7. Great progress was made at the sprint and several of these projects are set to become elements of the 4.7 release.

Having the 4.6 release out was a key factor in allowing folks at the sprint to focus on innovative improvements to the platform. With that in mind, we’re setting target dates for 4.7 stable to be released prior to the UK sprint in mid October. Here’s the target timeline:

  • Feature freeze - Late June
  • Alpha release - Early August
  • Beta release - Early September
  • Stable release - Early October

These are rough dates and subject to change. However,  if you’re planning on funding or contributing code for a new feature for 4.7, take particular note of the Feature Freeze date (late June). If...
