CiviCRM Entity is a Drupal module which greatly enhances CiviCRM integration with Drupal. This module exposes many CiviCRM entities as true Drupal entities. That means that almost any module can use Drupal entities. As a result, these modules can access and manipulate CiviCRM data directly from within Drupal via Drupal’s Entity API. This includes many commonly used modules such as Views, Rules, Search API, Entityqueue, Entity Reference, and many more.

If you have been working with CiviCRM for a while, you will have noticed that certain patterns occur regularly in your data - and thus have to be entered over and over again.
The prefix "Mr" corresponds to the gender "male", "Mrs" is usually "female" - you know that, but CiviCRM does not, so you have to make an additional entry
In languages other than English, you might have the additional hassle of choosing the gender-specific greetings
You might also have requirements specific to your organisation - e.g. if you are a faith-based organisation that has contacts with more than 30 different combinations of prefix, formal title, addressee and greetings formats.

We want to thank everyone in the open source and CiviCRM communities for their support for the CiviVolunteer 2.0 matching grant fundraising campaign. We were given the challenge of raising $15,000 by March 31st in order to access a matching grant for the same amount, and we raised $16,480! This grant will help us to improve CiviVolunteer and take it to the next level. We are very grateful to the CiviCRM user and partner communities for coming together to make this happen! We look forward to working with everyone to define the requirements for CiviVolunteer 2.0 and helping to create it. We hope that our work will help to make CiviCRM even more powerful for nonprofits allowing them to manage their volunteer programs more effectively.
We implemented CiviCRM in our non-profit company CEPS (www.ceps.eu) for it fits very well our needs. We use it almost out of the box for contact management, memberships, mailing and event registration.
On problem we experienced immediately - people where able to change their data during the event registration process and we didn't like this. We keep our data up to date manualy and wanted that only event registration is registered, but didn't want the current user info to be updated with the form input.
At the moment of implementation we had Civi 4.1 and the only field used for deduplication via event registration was email. This produced huge discrepancies in our database on daily basis, as we have many constituents where everybody in the company have same email address ...

Drip campaigns are a series of contacts triggered by certain event. There are many reasons to this. It is an effective way to keep in contact with a supporter over a period of time.
For example, when a user opts into an email list, you may want to send them welcome emails. These would be automated to send after 1 day, 1 week, and 1 month to remind them about your organization. For nonprofits, these emails are an effective tool to turn new prospects into donors or soliciting donors during a fund-raising campaign.

During January and February MAF Norge and Jaap and me from CiviCooP have done the first CiviRules sprint, funded by MAF Norge. Our ambitions where:
- tie up some of the loose ends in the current Trigger extension that MAF Norge uses now
- start with the CiviRules UI
- have a first draft of the basic engine for CiviRules.
Jaap did the first part with the Email/SMS and PDF API (see blogpost https://civicrm.org/blogs/jaapjansma/e-mail-send-sms-send-and-pdf-create-api-extensions) and I made a start with the second. I’ve been spending a lot of time the past few weeks working with alpha versions of our upcoming 4.6 release, and I’m excited to share some of the cool new features and improvements. This release includes contributions of vision and code from a wide variety of end-users and implementers. The fact that our entire community reaps the benefits reminds me once again of the awesome power of open source collaboration.
I know how easy it is to miss some new feature in a release that you or your client could really benefit from - so I’ll try to dig down a bit and cover some of the smaller improvements. But first, a shout out to the continuing momentum in improvements to the overall user experience through the addition of short-cuts, more inline editing capabilities, more usable widgets, increased consistency, and overall responsiveness. In the UK we’re used to being able to lookup our addresses based on our postcodes and charities add this to their wish lists for their own sites. However, once they establish the costs associated with this, they often find the ROI isn’t in the black and drop the idea.

Since July of 2013 Royal Mail unveiled its improved access to Postcode Address file including “Free access to PAF for independent small charitable organisations” i.e. those that have less than £10m per annum income and who are registered charities or CICs. In 2014 MAF Norge funded CiviCooP developing the TriggerAction extension (https://github.com/CiviCooP/org.civicoop.triggers) to assist them with automated Donor Journeys in CiviCRM. Our team of Jaap & Erik from CiviCooP and Steinar & Helen from MAF Norge worked hard for a week and we came up with something that does work but is fairly complicated and decidedly unsexy. During the CiviCRM sprint in Edale Jaap & Erik from CiviCooP worked on a first analysis of CiviRules, a CiviCRM extension that is based on the Drupal Rules module.
