Consistent with our push over the past year to optimize CiviCRM brand awareness, we recently rebooted the monthly Community News email and began cross promotion of it and its individual items (blog posts, event announcements, etc.) on to other channels such as LinkedIn and Blue Sky.
We are continuing this effort by adding new opportunities to highlight CiviCRM as well, such as the recent “extension highlights” (Landing Pages and WhatsApp), and by expanding our marketing and promotion into other languages.
As a result, and in an effort to better focus the content of our monthly newsletters, we’re going to break out the “product” related items, such as the release notes, from the monthly Community News and place them into a monthly Product Updates email.
Starting in July 2025, this new monthly newsletter will arrive in inboxes shortly after each release and will provide more details about the individual improvements to CiviCRM and to related items such as the release of new extensions.
It will be geared toward the average, non-developer user of CiviCRM and is not intended to replace the release notes. That’s to say that we will do our best to explain relevant changes in layman’s terms in the product and provide an overview of how they may impact your use of CiviCRM.
Product Updates may also include a video overview of the release available for free at CiviAcademy, depending on whether the improvements/changes in the release merit a video highlight.
If you’re already receiving the Community News, then we’ve already added you to the Product Updates recipient group (no action is needed on your part). As with all communications from CiviCRM, each email will include an unsubscribe link. Additionally, you may manage your newsletter subscriptions at any time at civicrm.org.
