Let's make CiviDay 2014 a CiviCRM co-working day too

At the London Meetup last night, the idea of having a CiviCRM co-working day was discussed, so we are certainly planning to do that in London on CiviDay 2014 (Wednesday, January 29th), and wouldn't it be great if the same pattern could be followed around the world.  The idea would be that the CiviDay Meetup in the evening would be at the same venue as the Co-Working day, ie that we book a venue for the whole day and into the evening, and that the venue has good wi-fi available and access to refreshments.

The idea of co-working is a bit like a sprint, except that you work on anything that is CiviCRM-related (eg customer-related work), rather than specifically towards the CiviCRM project as you would in a Sprint.  (I regularly attend Drupal co-working days, and find them really useful as I get to meet others who work in the Drupal community, whom I would not normally get to meet, and I can ask others about how to solve particular problems, and get answers that are not only so much quicker but also so much more comprehensive than I would by exploring the forums, using IRC, etc.  For this reason, I have been interested in the idea of a CiviCRM co-working day, and CiviDay seemed like the perfect focus for the idea.)

What do you think of the idea? Would you like to do a CiviCRM co-working day in your city on CiviDay in January?

Mark, this is a great idea. Not only will it be an opportunity to share Civi knowledge, but it will help build bonds within the community.

It is looking like Tim and Yashodha will be in London that week to work with me on CiviHR (as well as Ruchi Kumar who is helping me with specifiying requirements) so the four of us will come along to join the co-working day. Let's hope we can find a suitable venue. I am sorry but the Zing office now has space for only about 5 visitors to work from, but I will see if I can find anywhere else that might be suitable for about 15 people.

I concur - let's make it a coworking day. I typically find them useful and enjoyable.
