On a sunny Monday  in early March another great meet up, organised by Graham and Marcus was kindly hosted by Macmillan Cancer Support.  You might wonder what a Rotary Club, charities from entirely different fields, and a developer with a host of varying clients have in common apart from the obvious need to manage organisational relationships and data with an excellent open source CRM.

Well, we got the answer, after a bit of groaning  - GDPR - we had a big discussion of the issues faced by our individual organisations and our clients - but to prevent the afternoon becoming more of a support group for the regulatory challenged - Marcus from Pooka  kindly presented a demo of the the new GDPR extension in action.  Knowing that there is a tool on it’s way, which will significantly help with the headaches GDPR might bring and which sits alongside the already customisable mailing systems in CiviCRM was a relief in itself.  Further though,  being able to...

After many many many months, we had another CiviNYC day last week at Columbia University, thanks to Bashar Makhay (@themak) of the Office of Government and Community Affairs.

We had a university experience, with our meetup taking place in the large classroom with stadium seating. A few who joined us were evaluating CiviCRM and wanted to see if it was what they were looking for and it had the flexibility needed. So I started by doing a basic overview of CiviCRM components. Jon (@junglebird) also supported this and did a demo of Mosaico.

After that we split into two groups, one group looking more for some of their questions to be answered with regards to how to manage some organizational programming across affiliates....

Scotland joined the civiCRM community in great style at their first meet-up organised by Graham Clarkson of Queensferry Rotary Club and Marcus Wilson of Pooka in the beautiful centre of Edinburgh on Monday 4th December.

A good mix of end users, potential users, implementors and developers got together in MacMillan Cancer Support’s offices to learn more about the community and see a demonstration of how the Rotary Club use CiviCRM to help them successfully manage their hugely popular charity abseil.

The relaxed atmosphere prompted a deal of useful information sharing and the range of attendees came up with some really good questions and answers.  The next meet up will be organised for some time in the new year with an aim to run one quarterly from now on.

In future meet ups we hope to showcase many of the really useful CiviCRM components available, so if you have a specific need or experience/ expertise please do get in touch and we’ll keep you in the CiviCRM...
