Time to relaunch the Sydney CiviCRM meetup - let's get together for an informal meet and greet, open workshop to discuss challenges, learnings and best practices with CiviCRM, and how we can make this meetup work for us in 2019.
A meetup was active in Sydney from 2012 but hasn't met in a while, however there's many users in the Civi community who can benefit from getting together to exchange experiences, not only about CiviCRM but also about what we do in our respective organisations to engage audiences, build memebrships and host events.
To kickstart the topics, let's talk about Mailing:
- what methods to use and when to use them
- using Mosaico template builder
- using groups, include/exclude searches and groups for mailing
- Opt Out vs Unsubscribe
- Tokens and Templates
- tracking results
Possible other related discussion topics:...
Attendees represented developers, new and potential CiviCRM users, a good mix of experience. Topics covered included webforms, focussing on conditional fields. We also looked at webform layout, which allows the placing of webform fields inside boxes. The fields can then be arranged into rows and columns.
We then looked at the contact summary, showing how all contact involvement can be accessed from this one screen. This led on to a discussion about how CiviCRM, as an Open Source system evolves and grows.
A short presentation on Mosaico followed. A new template was created from one of the base templates, showing the drag and drop features. A block was then modified, adding images and text. The use of tokens to personalise the mailing was then covered. The presentation then concluded with the new template being used for a mailing.
This was followed by a presentation on CiviCRM in WordPress context using the tabs on the Dashboard...Read more

On Tuesday 11 September 2018 we had quite an enjoyable and interesting CiviCRM meetup in Antwerp.
A total of 32 participants gathered at the University of Antwerp Middelheim campus to share their stories around CiviCRM.
We did an introduction to CiviCRM for the people new to CiviCRM or deciding if they wanted to start using it, there was a session on memberships for a couple of membership organizations, I did a demonstration of my integration between CiviCRM and eenvoudigfactureren (online invoicing) for Domus Medica and Erik Brouwer facilitated a workshop on how to implement CiviCRM.
Following the excellent work begun in Edinburgh by Graham Clarkston and Marcus Wilson - an event has been organised for Friday 11th May to allow third sector organisations in Glasgow to come along and find out more about CiviCRM, the various options available to implement and to meet developers and current users to get a better idea of the various platforms and integrations that are making CiviCRM a go to solution for the third sector
Visibility - a local sight loss charity who have been using CiviCRM as an internal database system for around 18 months - have kindly offered the use of their meeting room and tea/coffee facilities will be provided.
Current users, implementors and developers are invited to come along on Friday 11th May for a pre meeting session to discuss new integrations and to share technical assistance and tips from 11.00 am, this first session runs over lunch time so please do feel free to bring your own lunch.
New and prospective users...Read more
