CiviCRM version 5.43.0 is now out and ready to download. This is a regular monthly release.
Upgrade now for the most stable CiviCRM experience:
Users of the CiviCRM Extended Security Releases (ESR) do not need to upgrade, as there are no ESR-specific bug-fixes or security issues at the moment. The current version of ESR is CiviCRM 5.39.x.
We are committed to keeping CiviCRM free and open, forever. We depend on your support to help make that happen. We thank all our partners, members and ESR subscribers, who are regular financial contributors. If you can, please donate.
What's new in CiviCRM 5.43
This version changes the database schema, has changes to the API, as well as the usual bugfixes and minor feature improvements.
- Send Email and Print/Merge PDF Task: Support participant & membership tokens in send-email tasks (21745 and dev/core#2895: 21801, and 21695) - presumably from the Find Participant and Find Membership searches.
- Dedupe: It is now possible to distinguish between core and custom fields on the Find and Merge Duplicate Contacts page (dev/core#2766: 21728)
- Money Formatting: Use money formatting for currency in templates (21783) Receipt templates now use the more modern Brick/Money library to format currency amounts (which has been in use elsewhere in CiviCRM in the past few releases). This will provide better formats in most cases, but it will be a change. For developers, there is also a new Civi:: facade format helper (Work Towards: dev/core#2638: 21599)
- Contact Record: Change Do Not SMS privacy icon (dev/core#2754: 21354)
- Contributions: Re-order the links for recurring contributions (dev/core#2843: 21529), View Contribution page, move the Done button to the last button, currently shown in the middle (21547), Replace "Print Invoice" and "Print Invoice and Credit Note" buttons with label "Download Invoice" and "Download Invoice and Credit Note" (21546)
- Mailings: Install flexmailer by default on new installs (dev/core#2836: 21522 and 21830). Flexmailer was required by Mosaico for some time, but the classic mailing interface did not require it. In order to phase out the old core code, Flexmailer is now enabled by default.
- Mailing Unsubscribe form: Show if email is already unsubscribed (21174)
- Tokens: a lot of cleanup. See: Upcoming token changes and a request for help.
- SearchKit: Add UI for arithmetic equations (21600), Support multiple arguments to field transformations aka SQL functions (21528 and 21535), Add pseudo-fields for row number and current user (21435), Support custom fields in bridge join entities (21424), Use Bootstrap table styles on admin screens (21405 and 21397), Filter search listing by creator (21388), enable tags for Saved Searches (21376), Sortable column fixes/improvements (21720 and 21894), Allows the pager, edit-in-place, and bulk updates to work properly with random sorting (21586), and lots of other tweaks.
- Form Builder: Use search display name as field prefix for url-based field defaults (21645), Accept default field values from the url (21606), Fix chainSelect to work with anonymous users (21759), Fix chain-select of country and address to work on SearchKit forms (21749) - Checkout the Remote Forms Make it Happen campaign.
- Api4: Add REGEXP/NOT REGEXP operators to API4 (dev/core#2793: 21288), APIv4 - Add Contact.age_years extra field to make age calculations easy (21718), APIv4 - Add support for sql equations (21551), Adds APIv4 entity support for the PrintLabel and Survey entities (21500),
- As usual, a ton of tiny tweaks and fixes that make CiviCRM more fun to use, and the source code more entertaining to read and improve. This humble editor often struggles to decide what is relevant to include in the above short summary. Feel free to give us a shout on the CiviCRM chat.

What's next?
- Do you organize virtual events with participants from multiple timezones? Timezone support for Events needs review (hat tip to Francis and Justin from Agileware).
- Mariav has put up a bunch of PRs that would go through our message templates and remove the `<centre>` elements around tables. The ‘master PR’ is here. Note the changes would apply straight away on new installs. We normally only provide an upgrade where there are larger changes involved such as this PR which standardises the participant transfer template in line with our other templates.
- Update default frequency for scheduled reminder cron from daily to hourly.
- System status check for failed scheduled jobs - note the discussion also highlights an extension to do the same but a bit more.
- Change to default status for activity search.
- Use a more translatable word for ‘cancel’.
- Revisit core fields for organizations and also here - space for trading name? Sales tax number?
