Aeronet helps Engineering Association to Leverage CiviCRM for Membership, Event Management and More

Structural Engineers Association of California

Background

The Structural Engineers Association of California, or SEAOC, is respected as an authoritative world leader in the practice of structural and earthquake engineering, as a nationally influential participant in structural code and standard development and as a valuable resource to practicing structural engineers in California.  SEAOC approached Aeronet ito re-think, redesign and rebuild their association website system.

Challenge

SEAOC’s website had not been redesigned in nearly 10 years and was set up with a hodge podge of solutions that did not work well together.  The website no longer reflected the professional nature of the Structural Engineering profession in California.  SEAOC also had an urgent need to sell publications of various types, promote their online webinars and allow members to pay for and post job listings.

Our Solution

Aeronet created an original website design that goes above and beyond the expectations and needs of SEAOC.  In addition to creating a new look and feel that provides the profession with an appropriate and engaging image, we implemented many sophisticated functional systems.  This website was built using Drupal 7 and CiviCRM 4.

Results

Website users can purchase publications at different prices depending on whether or not they are logged into the site.  The bookstore includes downloadable publications, printed publications and products that may be purchased on separate websites.  The online event registration system now enables users to learn about, sign up for, and pay for webinars and in-person events.  Logged in members are given different prices than non-members, adding another incentive for engineers to join SEAOC.  A wide variety of committees within SEAOC now has access to publishing information, sharing documents, scheduling meetings and much more.  This website leverages Responsive Website Design, enabling it to be automatically compatible with an enormous range of devices, from smart phones, to tablets, to laptops to large-screen desktop computers.
