Today marks the first beta release of CiviCRM 4.4. Congratulations to the CiviCRM community of developers; many people worked tirelessly to make this happen. If you haven't yet pitched in to help test this new version of your CRM, now is a great time.

PTP's first official contribution to the extensions repository is out: Summary Fields!
PTP folks and friends have been working hard to enhance the fundraising aspects of CiviCRM. We have big plans, and expect to release the bits and pieces as they are completed.
Starting with version 4.2 and 4.3, CiviCRM has incorporated sophisticated financial batch capabilities. However, for organizations switching from another CRM or financial system with batches, there is currently no capability to import batches or associate contributions with batches through the standard CiviCRM import process.
Last Tuesday and Wednesday I was in Oslo to work with MAF Norway for 2 days, together with my CiviCooP colleague Jaap Jansma. MAF Norway is a very inspiring group with very ambitious fundraising goals for the next couple of years. And they believe they need CiviCRM to make it possible for them to achieve those goals. It was an extremely inspiring visit for both parties involved.
Although many organizations already use CiviCRM to manage volunteer programs, a more streamlined and integrated approach to volunteer management and tracking functionality has been high on many peoples' wish list for several years.
This coming Friday, September 6, is the first and most {event.event_type} CiviCRM conference on the East Coast, CiviCamp.

For the past several months, my team at the Alliance for Catholic Education at the University of Notre Dame have been working on developing a mobile client for CiviCRM. It is now hosted on GitHub HERE.
Work on Project60 continues in the limelight. SEPA Direct Debit processing is alive and kicking, and we've just completed a first demo run of CiviBanking integrated with the Belgian bank format (CODA) importer. 261 files containing 1600+ transactions, running through an initial set of matching rules, good for an 80% hit rate ... not bad at all.
