On 2 May 2023, the Caldera Forms Collaboration Initiative met to exchange views on Caldera Forms and PHP8. Here you can read the most important results of the meeting and especially how we want to improve the PHP8 compatibility of the plugin and its CiviCRM integrations – and how you can get involved.

We missed having elections for the Community Council since the first one (due to COVID, then lack of interest, then inability to find volunteers to run the election) and had to regroup a bit to figure out how to run them now that those impediments have been (hopefully) overcome.

We now have enough interest to believe that this attempt will be successful. More people are now expressing interest than positions to be filled.

CiviCRM version 5.60.0 is now out and ready to download. This is a regular monthly release. Upgrade now for the most stable CiviCRM experience:

Caldera Forms and PHP 8

Caldera Forms is still a frequently used WordPress extension to create complex forms that integrate with CiviCRM. However, parts of the functionality do not seem to be compatible with PHP 8. Therefore, we want to start a community effort, to make Caldera Forms compatible with PHP 8. To discuss next steps, we will meet on the 2nd of May, 15 CET. Everyone, who wants to contribute to the discussion, is welcome to join.

Let your contacts know that you are thinking of them on their special day. This is not only a nice gesture, but it contributes to member retention in the long term. Especially larger non-profit organizations can maintain the relationship with their member base this way.

We at CiviCRM have thought long and hard about this phenomenon, in fact, for the past few months we've put all of our nonessential tasks on hold (unimportant things like software development, security, stability, release management and the like) to focus exclusively on these very important questions:
